We are a mother and daughter duo who wanted to pursue a lifelong dream of writing a book series and starting a business together. Our inspiration for the Doodle Diaries Series come from real events in our life and our own furry doodles.  I have always been a dog lover and dog enthusiast growing up. I believed that my furry friends made a difference in my emotional well being as a child and always provided love and support. My mom Minerva has been a teacher for over 25 years and has loved being able to make a difference in children’s lives and help shape their growth. She has great knowledge of children's emotional development and need for healthy expression. We found that journaling was a great tool for a creative outlet and emotional expression, not only for ourselves but for children.

Our love first bloomed for golden doodles when we got Blue. He was such a sweet shy boy at first but soon warmed up and blossomed while bonding with each of our family members. When Minerva was hospitalized due to Covid, she felt he played a significant role in her recovery to health upon returning home. They were able to really bond and create a connection that strengthened her to begin exercising/walking again. When our doodle family expanded with Bella, the rambunctious poodle and later with Augie, one of their ten babies, we couldn't help but feel the unconditional love that they brought to our lives during difficult times. 

  Together me and my mom decided to combine our love for golden doodles with the connection and social and emotional wellbeing of children to provide stories that invoke expression and coping mechanisms. We wanted our children’s books to emphasize the importance of journaling, expression, friendship, love, life after death and handling new emotions all through the human-animal bond.
